For healthy people with controlled asthma, it’s normal for the oxygen saturation level to drop in the range of 90-95% due to these reasons
- Temperature extremes
- Higher altitude
- Low oxygen concentration in your vicinity
- Exercise
When these conditions are reversed, then the oxygen saturation level in your blood gets back to normal, i.e 95%-100%.
Oxygen saturation level below than 95%
If the oxygen level decreases from 95%, without any reason then the body goes into the state of hypoxia. However, in the case of COPD and people with lung issues, it’s usual to have an oxygen percentage in blood in the 88-92% range.
Oxygen saturation level below 88%
Oxygen level below 88% damages your organ health. The more oxygen level drops, the more organs shut down. In extreme cases, the organ’s health won’t be reversed and person might go to the comma and then death. If the oxygen level drops below 88%, the patient should be rushed to the hospital.
